North Charleston

North Charleston

With almost 100,000 residents, North Charleston is now the third most populated city in South Carolina. It also resides in 3 counties: Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester. It is also the state’s retail sales leader and one of the state’s most prominent industrial centers. In the early 1900’s, the then unincorporated area was designated by Charleston leaders as the ideal place for industrial, military and business development. The Park Circle area, one of only two English Garden-style communities in the United States, first became revered as part of that North Charleston master plan in 1912. The area is thriving today.

The region and the city’s continued aggressive approach to positive development has brought many employers, none bigger than Boeing, as well as a vibrant outlet mall and an active arena/convention center/performing arts facility. Charleston’s joint civil/military airport is located in North Charleston, a city with a strong military history.
