Cougars remain at Patriots Point this weekend hosting Northeastern in an important CAA series beginning Friday at 4 p.m.

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – Cole Singsank continued a streak of College of Charleston players with two home runs in a game, leading the Cougars to a 10-7 win over The Citadel on Tuesday night at Patriots Point.

The Cougars (34-11) won for the 20th time in their past 22 contests, matching the 2004 team for the best 22-game stretch in program history, and completed a season sweep over the Bulldogs. With their fifth consecutive victory, Charleston is on its fourth winning streak of at least five games this season.

Singsank became the sixth different Cougar to homer twice in a game this year, and it's the third straight game in which it's been accomplished. Tyler Sorrentino went deep twice last Friday against Towson, and Avery Neaves did so the following day.

Singsank moved into a tie with Neaves for the team lead with 12 home runs and drove in three runs to help the Cougars defeat the Bulldogs for the 22nd time in the past 23 meetings. 

Trotter Harlan had two doubles to move into second place in school history with 60, and Will Baumhofer joined Harlan with two RBI while also stealing a pair of bases to make him a perfect 16-for-16 on the year.

Singsank hit his first home run of the night in the bottom of the first to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. The Citadel went in front 4-2 in its half of the second, but Charleston responded with three of its own in the bottom of the frame on RBI singles by Dylan Johnson, Baumhofer and Cole Mathis.

Harlan doubled in two in a three-run fourth to make it 8-4, and a Singsank solo shot and run-scoring triple by Luke Wood in the sixth built the cushion to six runs. The insurance proved beneficial when the Bulldogs scored three in the ninth before Davis Aiken got the final two outs.

Alex Lyon steadied the Cougar pitching after the early Citadel runs, blanking the Bulldogs on two hits from innings four through six to pick up his third win of the season. Hayden Thomas followed Lyon and worked 1.2 innings of one-hit, shutout ball with a pair of strikeouts.

The Cougars remain at Patriots Point this weekend when they host Northeastern in an important CAA series beginning Friday at 4 p.m. Charleston, which has already secured a spot in the conference tournament, can clinch one of the two first-round byes by taking the series against the Huskies.
