November 27, 2017 -- Gwynn’s of Mount Pleasant, located in the Village Pointe Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant, will be featuring five award-winning local artists as a part of its Give with Gwynn’s holiday charitable campaign. These artists will display their works in Gwynn’s store windows from November 26, 2017 – January 6, 2018. All works will reflect and inspire Peace on Earth. Gwynn’s will donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sales of each of these works to My Sister’s House. My Sister’s House provides services and resources to empower victims of domestic violence and their children to live free from abuse. They seek to end the cycle of domestic violence in the Tri-County area and align with the South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (SCCADVASA).

Gwynn’s collaborated with Artist on Fire to curate this event. Artist on Fire is co-founded by Alex and Sara Radin. It is their desire to see more opportunities for artists to fully express themselves in order to be a voice of positivity and change through the creative arts. The organization seeks to showcase the highest quality art and artists and to bring something new and fresh to the Lowcountry.

The five artists are:

Deorah Hill, a classically trained painter, resides on Seabrook Island and in upstate New York. Her paintings convey a sense of the familiar, interjected with abstract elements via color, brushwork, and paint application.

Alex Radin is an accomplished painter who expresses his gift through surrealism and metaphor. His desire is to help people see the world in ways they may not have seen it before.

Stephen Elliot Webb is a fifth-generation Charleston artist. His abstract expressionism invites one to reach out and touch the canvas, following the expression of light and flowing pathways of color.

Carla Johannesmeyer is a Lowcountry artist whose oil paintings are reminiscent of post impressionists, yet border on expressionism. Her background in architecture, her natural gift of math, and her love of art enable her to express her keen eye for composition, light, and color.

Melanie Spinks is an artist whose art springs through contemplation. Materials and processes fascinate her. As a Master Sculptor, her work has been reflected through metal fabrication, glass, leather, plaster, fiber arts, and clay.
