Hyman’s Seafood, 215 Meeting St

There are lots of great seafood restaurants in Charleston, but only one consistently has a crowd packed outside its doors waiting to get inside to devour some delicious food.  Hyman’s Seafood on Meeting Street is favorite spot for tourists looking to satisfy their seafood cravings while visiting beautiful downtown Charleston.

Hyman’s has a long history dating back to the 1800s, when the historic block it sits on was the wholesale district. The business has stayed within the family for generations, and they are proud of how much it has grown. Today, Hyman’s employs over 160 people.

Hyman’s has a multitude of tasty appetizers to choose from. Some of their top recommendations are the Shrimp Trio, Fried Green Tomatoes, Hyman’s Lump Crab Cakes, and Shrimp & Grits.

There are also four great soups available: Award–Winning Charleston She Crab, Lowcountry Gumbo, Lobster Seafood Bisque, and Cream of Irish Potato.

If you’re stopping by Hyman’s for lunch, you should sample one of their amazing Po-Boy Sandwiches. There are Po-Boy options like BBQ Shrimp, Clam Strip, Buffalo Oyster, and Gator Tail Sausage. You don’t sea Gator Tail on the menu every day!

Hyman’s Seafood has tons of great dinner entrees to pick from. Guests can enjoy Charleston Style Fish & Chips, Sea Scallops, Hyman’s Signature Crispy Flounder, Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo, Oven Stuffed Shrimp Potato, and Fried Lobster Tails.

Hyman’s is proud to serve local Charleston beers. They feature selections from Palmetto Brewery and Thomas Creek Brewery. Hyman’s Seafood also offers a number of budget-friendly wines for you to enjoy with your meal—by the glass or the bottle.
