The official source of what's happening in Charleston, SC
Block off the streets, and bring on the carnival. We’re going to have a party!
At 10:00 Saturday morning, October 20, 2012, Center Street on Folly Beach will be closed to traffic for an annual festival that raises money for local cancer patients. Festivities will begin at 11:00 and go on until 6:00 PM.
Local restaurants will set up booths along the street, and open container laws will be relaxed in designated areas so patrons can roam freely with adult beverages.
Carnival games, a jump castle, face painting, balloon animals, and a dunk tank will keep children of all ages amused. Live entertainment and music by local bands are scheduled throughout the day:
1:00 PM - Charlie the Riverdog will challenge The Pig from Piggly Wiggly to a jousting match in the arena at the intersection of West Cooper and Center Street.
On the Grill at The Edge Stage:
12:00 – 1:30 Louis D Project
2:00 – 3:15 Bringers of The Dawn
3:45 – 5:00 Dead 27s: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix
On the Follywood Stage:
11:30 – 12:50 Eric Penrod Trio
1:20 – 2:45 Rufus Tully Band
3:15 – 4:45 Calhoun’s Calling
There will be art in the park and a silent auction to raise money for this worthy cause.
Entering its fifth year, Follypalooza keeps getting bigger every year, and organizer DJ Rich hopes this will be the biggest ever to help as many people as possible. Proceeds will go directly toward alleviating the financial stress of local patients undergoing treatment for cancer and supporting the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Patient Relief Fund.
So bring the family, kids and pets down to the Edge of America for a day full of fun and help provide a beacon of hope for people in their darkest hour.
