Pretty much everyone loves ice cream. How could you not, especially now, when it's humid and hot and pretty much all-around miserable outside? Ice cream is nice and cold, it tastes like it was made in heaven, and it's the perfect way to reward yourself for being a good Samaritan.

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. this Thursday, June 21st,you'll have the chance to do your good deed for the day—and then be rewarded with a sweet treat. News 2 and Q104.5 FM are joining forces to host the Blood Drive Blitz's "Give a Pint, Get a Pint Blood Drive." The blood drive will be held at three different locations in the Lowcountry:

  • Omar Shrine Center (176 Patriots Point Street, Mount Pleasant)
  • Summerville Baptist Church (417 Central Avenue)
  • The West Ashley Red Cross Donor Center (2000 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard)
Simply stop by one of the above locations on Thursday in order to give blood and help save a life. All blood donors will receive a coupon voucher good for a complimentary pint of ice cream from any Charleston area Ben &Jerry Scoop Shop. I don't know about you, but I'm already trying to figure out which flavor ice cream I'm going to request. It's a tie between Chocolate Therapy and Cake Batter.

But that's not all you'll get for giving the red stuff—blood donors will also get a free American Red Cross t-shirt, great to use as a cover-up over your bathing suit or to lounge around the house in this summer.

This blood drive will also feature complimentary food provided by a myriad of local eateries: Raising Cane's, Dunkin Donuts, Moe's Southwest Grill, and Starbucks Coffee. Yum!  So let's summarize. At the Blood Drive Blitz's "Give a Pint, Get a Pint Blood Drive," you can get a free t-shirt, a free pint of ice cream, free and delicious food—all while you're helping to save a life.

I don't know about you, but that's more than reason enough to head over to one of the three locations on June 21st and roll my sleeve up.
