Summertime is the perfect time to check out some amazing music and to enjoy the warm nights with a cold beverage. There are festivals and concerts galore, and there’s one concert in particular that we think Charlestonians will be excited to check out: the Last Summer on Earth Tour.

The tour is comprised of several big-name bands including Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and Cracker. Not familiar with these killer bands? Here’s a quick run-down on each of them:

  • Barenaked Ladies is a Canadian band that’s been around for quite some time. Their new album, All in Good Time is their—count it—eleventh, and it promises to be just as thrilling and successful as their previous ten albums. Some of their best-known songs include “One Week,” “If I Had $1,000,000,” and “The Old Apartment.”
  • Blues Traveler formed in 1987 and became popular in the mid-‘90s, and they’re still going strong. Known for their harmonica-laced hits, Blues Traveler recently released their eleventh album, Suzie Cracks the Whip. Still don’t know who they are? Maybe their hit songs will ring a bell: “But Anyway,” “Hook,” and “Run-Around.”
  • Big Head Todd and the Monsters was founded in 1986 and after consistently touring around Colorado, they became one of the area’s most popular acts. They’re known mainly for their strong stage performances that are sure to get your feet tapping and your hips moving. Expect to see their ninth album, Rocksteady, on shelves on July 20th.
  • Cracker is an alternative rock band that was formed in 1991 and became successful with their 1993 album, Kerosene Hat, which included hits such as “Euro-Trash Girl,” “Low,” and “Get Off This.” Their most recent album, Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey, was released in 2009.

Okay, so now you have a better idea of the bands that are featured during the Last Summer on Earth Tour, and if you’re into southern rock and alternative music, then you know that you won’t want to miss this concert. It’s heading to the Family Circle Stadium here in Charleston at 7:00 p.m. on July 14th, and tickets are already on sale. And the best news is that while you may think that tickets would be incredibly pricey considering the success of the four bands playing, they’re actually quite affordable, ranging from $25 to $59.50.

Can’t make it to the Charleston show? Don’t worry—there are shows in Raleigh on July 12th, Charlotte on July 13th, and Atlanta on July 16th.

But you can be sure that this writer will be sitting in the audience at the Family Circle Stadium ready to rock out on July 14th!
