The aquarium boasts about being the most visited attraction in Charleston, and with good cause. From stingrays, sharks and otters to turtles and snakes, the aquarium offers exhibits of all kinds that allow for visitors to get a sneak peak into the habitats that make up South Carolina's wildlife population. Over 5.3 million people have visited the aquarium since its opening in May of 2000, and with over 60 exhibits, there is something for everyone. The aquarium features its largest exhibit, The Great Ocean Tank, which holds over 385,000 gallons of water and contains over 450 animals. The aquarium's Touch Tank also allows for visitors to come into direct contact with marine animals such as stingrays, sea urchins, horseshoe crabs and many more. Overall, the aquarium is home to over 6,000 different plants and animals. Make sure to carve a good chunk of your day out to see this marvelous place because there are endless exhibits to explore!
